Pele's Fury Giclee on Canvas or Metal Print
Pele's Fury Giclee Canvas Print or Metal Print (*Volcano Series). Halemaʻumaʻu is a crater within the greater crater of Kilauea Caldera, the most active volcano in the world. The name means “house of the ʻamaʻu fern”, though ancient Hawaiian songs also refer to it as the “house of eternal fire”. On a recent visit to the Big Island, Thomas encountered a full moon night, where Halema’uma’u crater was glowing with energy as a lake of lava lit the crater walls and a gentle breeze blew the smoke up through the milky way galaxy as the moisture in the air created a rainbow around the moon with Mauna Kea resting in the background. In the right side of the crater is the face of Madam Pele, the goddess of volcanoes, fire, and the creator of the Hawaiian Islands. According to legend, Pele lives in Halema’uma’u and it is a tradition for Hawaiians to leave an offering like the wrapped ti leaf in the right bottom corner. In addition to her role as goddess of fire and volcanoes, Pele is also regarded as the goddess of the Hula.
If you look at the triangular shape where the eruption is, it is the Big Island, or Hawaii island. The graceful Koa’e’kea, or white tailed tropic birds, nest in the crater cliff areas to avoid predators, as the Nēnē goose overlooks the unique experience only in Hawaii.
The Hawaiian Nēnē is the rarest goose in the world. It's found only in the state of Hawaii. In the 1950's, the species was on the brink of extinction. With the help of biologists like Kathleen Misajon in Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, the Nēnē population is rebounding.
Artist Thomas Deir's mother was born in Hilo on the Big Island.
* Volcano Series is inspired by the many eruptions of the world’s most active volcano on the Big Island (Hawaii Island) at Kīlauea and Halemaumau crater. This series has realism, surrealism, and abstract paintings. Thomas visits the Big Island several times a year.

Giclée (pronounced zhee-clay) prints are high-quality fine art reproductions of original artwork that are made using inkjet printing technology and are often used by artists, galleries, and museums. Giclée Canvas Prints are known for their exceptional color accuracy, resolution, and longevity. They are made using archival-quality inks and varnished with a UV-resistant coating, which means these prints can last for decades without fading or deteriorating, unless placed in direct sunlight, which will accelerate the deterioration process. Giclée Canvas Prints match the look and feel of the original oil painting. Thomas hand-paints highlights and puts his silver metallic signature in the bottom corner. Gallery Wraps (GW) are available only for Giclee on canvas. Please see the *GW size and price listed on this Giclee print product page. |
Metal Prints are a stunning way to display artwork. The high-gloss finish makes the colors so intense that they have a magical luminescence, which makes them stand out from canvas giclée prints. The process involves infusing dye directly into specially coated aluminum sheets, resulting in durable prints that are both scratch-resistant and waterproof. These prints are also easy to clean with a soft microfiber cloth and glass cleaner, making them ideal for commercial or home use. The great advantages of Metal Art Prints are their durability and longevity. They will last for decades and can be used outdoors and in bathrooms where there is sunlight and high moisture. THERE ARE NO GW FOR METAL PRINTS.
