Our World Hawaii 30x40 GW Painting
Our World Hawaii 30x40 GW (*Abstract Series) painting is an original on canvas by Hawaii artist Thomas Deir. Upon his venture into abstract art, Thomas had visions of reality. In other words, he saw things through the abstract colors and textures. In this piece, he saw the common sight of a glass fishing ball washed up on the beach in Hawaii, usually from Japanese fishing boats. Combining the abstract background of the ocean to the beach, Thomas painted the glass ball to resemble the earth, invoking a sense of responsibility for our precious world.
The *Abstract Series was created in 2018 and 2019, it was a refreshing break away from the discipline of oil paintings. The wild feeling of throwing paint around and focusing on color rather than concept was exciting! Eventually concept did creep in and became something more than just color. In the series, there are various "sub-series" that developed such as the ocean, beach, frond, purple, wave, eucalyptus, lava, sunrise/sunset.
