A profoundly powerful painting of Jesus Christ underwater, embracing the light, surrounded by mermaid angels and colorful reefs. Three years in the making (it was inspired from an actual underwater statue in Florida), “Christ of the Deep” was the painting that put Thomas on the map in the art world. Sought after by collectors around the world, this piece has led to many commissions, including the $100,000 commission for the USA Inventor’s Hall of Fame of “Nessie Lives!”
This signature original has been in his possession for 31 years. He has tried to hold on to it despite numerous offers over the years, knowing that the value would increase. The Christ of the Deep launched Thomas into the limelight after it was unveiled in a gallery in Waikiki and broadcast on all 3 news stations.
The *Marine Series began with Thomas' first painting in 1988 which was of a whale. Then dolphins, turtles, fishes, reef scenes and more whales followed and he became known as a "marine artist". This series was the beginning of his career subject matter.
The *Solemn Series is a collection of paintings that deal with unique subject matter. These works are more than “pretty pictures” and they tell a story.
